There are womyn in the kitchen
stirring pots & breathing rosemary
while chopped garlic
awaits the pan -- they talk
of children growing older, the body &
how they feed & clothe it --
they are wearing earrings their husbands bought,
& wedding bands around their fingers –
there are womyn in the kitchen,
heels clicking on hardwood.
